Postjam Version Released
Breaking the Cycle » Devlog
The first postjam version is out now! You can play it on Windows or Linux.
This version implements most of the key feedback and fixes most of the bugs from the Jam Version while still staying true to the original gameplay. In particular, no new levels were added in this update.
Enjoy playing, and please report any bugs you see ^_^
Features Added
- Safe Zones (you now get returned to the last ‘safe’ grounded position!)
- Press [ S ] to change the UI layout.
Changes
- Removed loading zones, instead opting for seamless transitions between rooms.
- Lowered player collision height, it should now be easier to squeeze through 1 block gaps.
- Overhauled the player physics, they should now feel smoother and more intuitive.
- Slightly changed the layouts of certain rooms after changing the collision detection/player physics.
- Flags now use the same sound as the Rewind ability.
- Bean tiles now give fewer additional jumps after jumping off them.
- Improved tutorial visuals.
- New bugtesting tools in development mode (meaning you’ll get new updates faster)
- Added an additional tile in A-3, made the moving tiles in A-3 more predictable.
- Reduced getting stuck in walls
Bugs Fixed:
- Additional vine tiles get created after fast forward
- Vine tiles are invisible due to sorting layers
- Double Jump allows you to access B1 early
- Wrong Room Highlighting in Map
- Bad Acceleration, Floaty Physics, Friction Issues
- Faulty Loading Zone in A-1
- Blocks not moving by the same amount in B-1
- Spike in B-3 moves too slowly
- Moving Blocks launch player upwards when colliding in certain ways
- UI blocks obstacles
- Player sometimes keeps moving in the same direction after quickly swapping left/right movement
- Moving tile in A-2 appearing from D-1
- Pause tool ui does not reflect current area
- Collision Detection (player getting stuck)
- Wrong value of
respawnsAtY
set when triggeringFlagScript.HardReset(true)
- Player sometimes detects ground when hitting ceiling so respawn/jumps are reset
- Respawn position saved too close to spikes
- The game is impossible to beat
- Using abilities in area B can sometimes crash the game
- Falling platforms are slightly offset after resetting
The next update will be in development soon, and ~25 total levels are currently planned.
